New gTLD time table
The Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH) has been in operation since 26th March 2013.
Since March 23rd new gTLD applicants have received positive responses regarding their applications (“pass”). Evaluation of all applications happens in the order as drawn on the Prioritization Draw. The first TLDs to be evaluated were approx. 110 IDN TLDs before the Latin strings were be looked at.
From November 2013 on new TLDs entered the market, new ones starting each week. With a total 1,500 applications this is lasts up until today. While in 2014, 2015 and 2016 over 100 new gTLDS came to market each year, these days only a handful go live each year. Go-to-market is dependent on technical implementation and testing, signing a contract with ICANN and possible objections.
For everyone speculating on their own TLD: A next round of applications is not expected before the year 2024.
